  • Content: What information will your criminal record contain?
    Police Certs CRC report will contain possible conviction matches by checking the information provided with CPIC (Canadian Police Information Center) database. If your CRC will have previous convictions, by law, we are unauthorized to disclose those convictions details due to privacy policies.
  • Legitimate: What assurance or proof can you provide to show that your background check service is trustworthy and credible?
    Police Certs, a product of Gutenberg Certs, is a technology that partners with Canadian police agencies to provide criminal record checks. Our certificates are technologically advanced, tamper-proof, verifiable, and can be revoked if necessary.
  • Source: What is the source of your authority to conduct criminal background checks?
    Police Certs is an official partner of Canadian Police detachments. This partnership grants us the authority to perform criminal record checks through our police partners using the Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) database. By law, any external party seeking access to the CPIC must be fully accredited, as outlined in Section 19 of the Dissemination of Criminal Record Information policy. Gutenberg Certs and Police Certs have successfully met all accreditation requirements and are contracted with Canadian Police detachments.
  • Secure: What measures do you have in place to ensure the secure handling of my personal information?
    Your privacy is of the utmost importance to us, which is why we have taken several measures to ensure the security of your personal information. We use industry-standard SSL encryption on our website to prevent unauthorized access or tampering with your data. All data is securely stored in an off-site facility, and all employees of Police Certs undergo thorough background checks and are bound by confidentiality agreements. Furthermore, we comply with all federal and provincial privacy laws and are also compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
  • Delivery Time: What is the processing time for criminal record checks?
    We, in collaboration with our Police Departments Partners aim to deliver your report in within 1 business day, after successful online submission - including payment. To safeguard your information and prevent tampering, reports are emailed to the address provided in your application. If you have not yet received your report in within 24 hours, please reach out to support@policecerts.com for a quicker response.
  • Tamperproof: What is QR verification?
    Police Certs reports are secured through an QR Code which means that they are tamper-proof, impossible to manipulate or corrupt. When you verify your certificate - you will see if it is valid, or revoked as well as the original name of the recipient.
  • Report "Pending": The status of my report is "Pending" - what does it mean?
    If your report status in your portal shows "Pending" it means that we are working, together with our Police Departments Partners to finalize your report. Usually, the report will be finalized in within the same business day.
  • No Vulnerable Sector Checks: Is it possible to utilize this check for Vulnerable Sector Checks or immigration/visa-related objectives?
    Unfortunately, we do not offer Vulnerable Sector Checks. Please note that health care institutions will require Vulnerable Sector Checks. You will need to obtain that from your local police stations where you reside. Moreover, the criminal record checks we provide do not cover any convictions by the Canadian Border Service Agency (CBSA) or US Customs. To determine your eligibility for a visa or your entry status into the US or Canada, please contact CBSA or US Customs directly.
  • No Refunds: If my employer doesn't accept third-party background checks, am I eligible for a refund?
    Although our checks are authorized by Canadian Police Detachments, there may be instances where third-party criminal record checks are not acknowledged by certain companies or individuals. Regrettably, if your Police Check Report is declined, we are unable to issue a refund. Therefore, we highly recommend that you check with your employer beforehand to ensure that they accept third-party checks before proceeding with your purchase.
  • Past Convictions: What steps should I take to have my past convictions pardoned?
    If you have previous convictions that you would like to have pardoned, dropped, or cleared, you can visit the website of Pardon Services Canada to obtain more information on the steps you need to take to obtain a pardon or a record suspension. However, if you would like to dispute your previous convictions, we recommend obtaining a Certified Criminal Record Check through your local police station or a fingerprinting agency. This check will provide you with a detailed summary of your criminal history, including any outstanding warrants or charges. Once you have obtained this report, you can use it to challenge any incorrect or outdated information related to your previous convictions.
